It all began
at Maru-a-Pula(Map)
where all the members, Duke,
Heavy, Lynx
, Snitch, Bo
and Doe attended
school for their secondary education. Duke, Heavy, and Snitch were at the
time known as H.K.D. as
they blazed up the school variety shows. Tight as they were, they
also used to get together in the afternoons , weekends, and even holidays
and they listened to some of the phattest hip hop at the time, which was
around 1993-1995. Most of the time they got together at Duke's place, and
these meetings often involved some lyrics construction and microphone busting
on the house system.
Mista Doe used to roll for self most of the time around 1993-1994, althought at times he was backed up by his late best friend Pegs (may his soul rest in peace) also rocking the mic at the V. shows. By 1995 Doe was busting lyrics in Chemistry class with Mista Bo, and before either of them knew it they were Dynamic Lordz (D.L). Friendship drew all these niggaz together and the frequency of the afternoon mic wrecking sessions at Duke's increased for all five. Towards the end of 1996, the year of secondary completion for these young bucks, they had almost completely merged into one group. 1996 was also the year when these niggaz decided to take their lyric writing and mic busting to another level. Having heard the P-Side buzz they decided to approach Dj Sid at his crib. So finally Doe and Duke (known together as Double D) managed to meet the big man and let him here a bit of their flavour. Kicking some honey inspired lyrics over an Yvette Michell beat which Sid was spinning proved to be the ignition to the bomb! So the click was welcomed to the P. Coinciding with those happenings was the introduction of another member, Lynx, making the total number of members six, which is how they came up with their group name. April 1997 is the year that saw the first perfomance by Double D together with Ice Queen and H.L.Z. as they blazed up the Third Mind show, which was held at the Ditshupo Grounds, with a sterling perfomance. From then on there has been no looking back. Written by
